First of all, we wondered about the period of the press release, why it should be at this time? We discussed about it; We wonder the intention of United States. It might not be only humanitarian reason, but also to control the UN obviously. it seemed to have some tendency that the U.S. wants to press the UNDP’s problem because they have authority.

In another hand, when we thought about Security General Ban, many people think he is kind of pro American, and for him, timing was good because he was about to reform about UN

About UNDP, We talked about the UNDP itself. This is a quite huge organization in the international society.
However, the problem is that aid itself is vague. Money is little bit tricky, but development itself is trickier. Therefore, development part is easy to criticize. The point is that though there is many criticisms because of lack of monitoring system, we still have to continue development working for the countries for the people there.

Proceeding to the main articles, when we compare the contents of two letters(the letter from Ambassador Mark D. Wallace to Mr. Ad Melkert, associate administrator of UNDP & Note to the Executive Board on DPRK), both are very reasonable.

Actually, the first letter from Ambassador Mark D. Wallace was unofficial letter; nonetheless, it opened to the public. A participant explained us that it is natural all the official letter is open, it can be seen as a systematic process.

Nonetheless, in some point, this was quite good time to have good relations between DPRK and the U.S.

Many worry about external aids what if foods are used in military use? However, we also think different way that hunger people are in military as well, further, if we start doubt cannot do anything. On the spot, it is better to aid more food.

Let’s think about position of each government.
South Korea sometimes ignores response, as one of the policy, but some participants thought that this was the sign of weakness because South Korea has no power to have our own opinion. Additionally, our government should stop responding emotionally. This is the time to find the way to proceed systemically for our reunification.

For reference, we talked about the reunification of the Korean peninsula.
For this separated situation, no neighbor country seriously wants our nation to be united again. Moreover, there is no exact way to prove why we should be united by international law. It is only domestic law in South Korea. Internationally, both are members of UN, which means Korea is separated two countries for sure.
Therefore, if North Korea collapses by themselves, we cannot reunify our country.
Urgently, we should find the practical way to occur for reunification.

We refer to the book ‘end of the poverty’. In the book, the U.S.’s position is mentioned.
Compare to the cost of sustaining peace toward terror countries, which is usually military money of United States, helping the countries is less money but more effective

We consider the roles that we can do toward the United States. The answer was that we should inform the society of the United States about real situation of North Korea inside because foreigners usually don’t recognize the seriousness of the situation in North Korea just like South Korea doesn’t either.
Whenever we have chance, we need supporter for the unification of the Korean peninsula

Our nation should learn how to act independently. Moreover, these days, situation is changing very fast at the moment; thus, we, South Korea, should adopt this situation
At this moment, six-party talks will be started again. We have to be careful not to be excluded. This is the problem of the Korean peninsula, but South Korean government has been usually excluded and it always goes to international problems. Even to have our own position, South Korea should provide humanitarian aid consistently.

We discussed about the suggestions for various international organizations.
In the long run, we should focus on the development not the aid. For instance, China put money a lot, but no improvement of North Korea. That is because they only support for consumer goods but it doesn’t help improve the nation itself!! Some strong countries contribute a lot for their own interest to have a strong position.

For the conclusion, we shouldn’t go with short vision, but should have long run vision from now on. Therefore, Investment is very important.

At the last comment, we had time to reconsider ourselves that how much we have wanted to have reunification of the Korean peninsula, and what the reasons were for it.
